Effective Treatment for Alcoholism, Addictions and Dual Diagnosis

Residential Extended Care

The Residential Extended Care Program at Clearview is located in Venice Beach California. Our state-licensed program is designed specifically for men and women who require a longer-term treatment experience. Clients live in a beautiful, modern home-like setting that includes a private chef.

Venice Beach FacilityThe Extended Care program addresses addictions, eating disorders, codependency, sexual addiction, and a wide range of psychiatric disorders in a longer-term curriculum. Trauma issues are an integral focus of the program.

In the mid-1990's, insurance companies decided that 30 days (and then 28, and then 21 days) were going to be the "standard" or typical length of residential drug and alcohol programs. They backed up that decision by refusing to pay for programs that exceeded these "suggested" limits, despite many studies and hundreds of research hours that directly equate successful outcomes with the length of time someone spends in treatment. Studies continue to report that the longer a person remains connected to treatment, the greater their chances at long-term sobriety and emotional stability.

We have found that the days immediately following discharge can often be the scariest, and most risky, of any faced by a newly sober addict or alcoholic. This issue is rarely addressed by the majority of drug and alcohol treatment centers.

To help ensure our clients’ success we created the Extended Care Program, a natural extension of Primary Residential Treatment. The program is also designed for clients who have been in multiple treatment programs and have relapsed repeatedly.

Extended Care acts as a "bridge" from the intensity of Primary Treatment to a home or school environment where individuals must rely more on themselves or family members for support.

It can be an incredible benefit, especially to those with a history of relapse, or individuals not quite comfortable enough with their newly learned skills and coping tools to return to their homes, jobs, schools or communities following just four weeks of Primary Treatment.

At Clearview, we base a clients Extended Care Treatment Plan on both their personal needs and their prior treatment experience. The length of treatment can vary according to the individual’s needs, however the minimum stay is two months.

Santa Monica FacilityDuring Extended Care, Clearview provides a full onsite clinical program that includes individual therapy sessions, case management, psychiatric services, specialized groups, experiential therapies, intensive family week, vocational and educational guidance, job assistance, life skills, yoga and meditation, and an exercise program. Clients also attend 12-step meetings and relapse prevention. Acupuncture and therapeutic massage are also available.

During their stay, each resident develops a personal recovery plan to help them transition back into life. Based on their progress, residents begin to reintegrate into the family, community, workplace, and/or school setting. Residents are encouraged to practice new skills and behaviors in a safe, caring, and supportive environment while they return to everyday life.
