Codependency Treatment

Clearview Codependency TreatmentIf you find yourself always deferring to others to tell you what to do or say instead of listening to yourself, trying to fix situations that are out of your control, or focusing more on pleasing others than yourself, you may have codependency issues.

Codependency is a belief system that someone else is more important or more worthwhile than you. It manifests itself in behaviors that are unhealthy, such as putting someone else’s needs before your own (even if they are detrimental to you), trying to manipulate others, and setting aside your own values to earn approval from other people.

People who struggle with codependency issues often also struggle with a drug or alcohol addiction. If you are codependent, your core needs may not be being met and you may choose to fill that void with substances. Clearview Treatment Programs can help you to address your codependency issues and learn to rely more on yourself.

If you struggle with both a codependency issue and drug or alcohol abuse, our dual diagnosis treatment center in Southern California can help. Clearview Treatment Programs offers multiple levels of care, including residential treatment, day treatment, and outpatient treatment, so that you can get the codependency treatment that will give you the best chance at learning to live independently.

How We Can Help Treat Your Codependency

Clearview offers the most current evidence-based treatment modalities available to help you with your codependency symptoms. Treatment throughout all of our programs involves individual and group therapy, and includes the following:

  • One to three individual psychotherapy sessions with Ph.D. and master’s-level therapists who are trained in codependency treatment.
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help you change your anxious and depressive thoughts and beliefs and gain relief from your codependency symptoms.
  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Somatic Experiencing (SE) therapies to help you strengthen your sense of self and work through past traumatic events.
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help you regain emotional stability,  improve your interpersonal relationships, and learn mindfulness skills.
  • Codependency group to help you identify your codependency issues and learn healthier ways to maintain relationships.
  • Process groups that will allow you to learn relationship skills, boundaries, and self-care.
  • Family program that addresses issues of codependency within your family system and helps all members of your family to recognize and put an end to unhealthy behaviors.

Upon admission, you will receive a thorough psychiatric evaluation to determine if psychiatric medications are necessary to help with your symptoms. Our psychiatrist will meet with you regularly to evaluate your response to medication and make adjustments as needed. You will also receive a comprehensive psychosocial assessment and treatment plan that will help address and resolve your codependency issues.

Our holistic approach to codependency treatment includes yoga, exercise, and healthy nutrition to treat the body as well as the mind. Other services include acupuncture and therapeutic massage. Our unique California location, 1 mile from the Pacific Ocean, allows you to take advantage of the Los Angeles weather by going on calming beach walks and other outdoor recreation.

If you have codependency issues along with substance abuse, you may be suffering from a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder. At Clearview Treatment Programs, our experienced treatment team is able to provide you with the specialized treatment you need to overcome your dual diagnosis and address your codependency and substance abuse. In addition to dual diagnosis treatment, you will receive drug and alcohol counseling, participate in relapse prevention groups, a 12-step study group, and attend daily 12-step meetings.
