      It is a fair question, however, consider what you would like most in your life. Does social anxiety get in the way of that goal? If so, group therapy would be a form of immersion therapy for you, in which you could attend the groups, and benefit from others’ stories and the counselor’s treatment, until you were ready to talk.

      It may take a few sessions before feeling comfortable at any group therapy session when dealing with severe social anxiety. But the first important step in overcoming social anxiety is taking the first step in joining or researching for a good group therapy in your area. On the first session you may not want to speak but just observe and that is alright. There is no pressure in group therapy. You share what you like when you like. When you feel comfortable enough to introduce yourself then you do so and move on slowly. There is no rush to recovery when steps are being made. Just start making the steps so you or someone else may be free of anxiety so you can live a more peaceful life.
